Another twofer in this post as they’re somewhat related.
Day 8: Post a kinky image you find erotic.
Just one? Have you seen my tumblr? While it’s not ALL erotic images (there are some quotes, kittens, and my nature photography interspersed as well), I have over 23,446 posts and 6,497 followers as of this writing. I started my tumblr on a lark when a bunch of my friends in my Femdom community in Second Life (see previous posts for further discussion of that) were all jumping on the tumblr bandwagon. I had already been a fan/follower of malesubmissionart.com (which has deviated somewhat from its early posts and purpose), and I’d even submitted an image I’d found to that site. So I created the GeekDomme tumblr.
The sorts of images that appeal to me are ones in which a man is shown in a vulnerable light, usually at the hands of a woman, but sometimes at the hands of a man, and sometimes just all by himself. I really detest the stereotypical Femdom Porn images that were crafted and posed for the male gaze alone and which show women as cruel, unfeeling latex-clad harpies with whips, usually in completely unrealistic poses. Bah.
Give me instead images that reflect what REAL Femdom relationships look like – real bodies and real people engaging in power exchange. People who love each other. And oh my yes give me the pretty boys, the abs and arms and perfectly round asses. Objectification? Absolutely. But not entirely. Because it’s the photos that highlight the individuality of the men, their softness and vulnerability when they submit to one they love and adore, that really get me tingly.
It’s said that men tend to be more visually stimulated than women, and for me, at least, that holds true. It’s not really the visual images that get me all hot and bothered. It’s the sounds men make when they are so turned on they become incoherent – their ability to form words stripped away by desire and pain mixed together…
And for THAT, I reach for the Moaning Men tumblr.
Day 9: Post a kink related song or music video you enjoy.
With the increased acceptability of kink and BDSM in mainstream media, more and more songs are being produced that incorporate these themes. One I’ve liked for a long time is “Sweet About Me” by Gabriella Cilmi. I mostly like it for the video – it amuses me. But I also like it for the refrain. Because while I may LOOK LIKE the soccer mom from the suburbs, there’s nothing sweet about my sadistic side. Don’t be fooled.
The second song that came to mind immediately is one that was sadly overplayed on my local radio stations, but one that I like nonetheless. The lyrics are pretty awesome. Have a listen to Hozier singing “Take Me to Church”:
And I think I’ll end with a classic. The incomparable Leonard Cohen singing “I’m Your Man” (although his Hallelujah is right up there in my book).
